Special miniature of the Hamburger Tactica 2018: Heinrich Barth

This year, the TACTICA figure follows the theme room into the desert. We present Heinrich Barth, the famous Hamburg Sahara explorer.

In 1849, Barth set out with a British expedition that would take him across the Sahara. The journey took him over Ghat, the foothills of the Tassili n’Ajjer and the Hoggar Mountains to Tintellust in the Aïr Mountains. From there we went to Agadez in Niger and finally to Timbuktu. After many adventures, including battles with predatory Tuareg, he returned home in 1855. Unfortunately, his travels are still shadowed unfairly by other big names, because Barth did not know how to market his discoveries. Nevertheless, Heinrich Barth is one of the great explorers of Africa in the 19th century.

As always, our 28mm figure was modeled by Frank Germershaus.

Special miniature of the Hamburger Tactica 2018: The end of the Great War

GREAT WAR MINIATURES used the end of the First World War 100 years ago to model this small figure scene exclusively for the Hamburg Tactica. This way they also want to emphasize (despite Brexit) the friendship between Germany and Great Britain. Like the Perry special miniature and our own figurine, these figures will be available exclusively at the Hamburg Tactica.

Special miniatur “El Aurens” – designed and sculpted by Michael Perry for the Hamburger Tactica 2018.

The person of Thomas Edward Lawrence hardly needs an introduction. The British soldier, archaeologist and writer became a legend in his lifetime. El Aurens, as he was known in the Arab world, played a memorable role in the First World War and the Arab Revolt. It was made famous by the stories and speeches of American journalist Lowell Thomas, by the book “Seven Pillars of Wisdom” in which he describes his own experiences and finally by the great movie “Lawrence of Arabia” by David Lean from the year 1962.

Our figure (only available at the TACTICA), fantastically modeled by Michael Perry, shows T.E. Lawrence at the beginning of the Arab uprising in autumn of 1916.
