Thomas Nalezinski (Rusus) hat mit 28mm Figuren auf einer exquisiten Geländeplatte die Sachsenkriege Karls des Großen dargestellt. Die Sachsenkriege begleiteten Karl fast während seiner gesamten Regentschaft. Die Zerstörung der Irmin Sul 772 sollte das Weltbild der Sachsen zerstören als Vorbereitung der Christianisierung durch die Franken. Das war dann der Anfang der Sachsenkriege. Nach den Schlachten von Eresburg und Sigiburg waren dann die großen Kampfhandlungen vorerst vorbei. Karl marschierte jede Saison in die sächsischen Gebiete, die sächsischen Edlinge gelobten Karl jedes Jahr ihre Treue, aber hintenrum gab's immer einen, der dann Hinterhalt wurden in die Szenarien eingebaut. Am Anfang steht die Zerstörung der Irmin Sul. Am Ende soll ein Szenario stehen, in dem Karl der Große im Showdown um die Königshalle von Lorsch um sein Leben kämpft.

War against the saxons took place nearly throughout the whole period of Charles reign. The destroying of the "Irmin Sul", the holy tree of the saxons, in 772 was meant to shatter the beliefs in the power of the old pagan gods. It was the beginning of the saxon wars. After the battles of Eresburg and Sigiburg the time of the big clashes was over. But the saxons still refused to convert to the christian faith. So Charlesmagne marched every year into the deep forests of lower saxony, the saxon kings were forced to pledge loyalty, but tried afterwards to fight the Franks in ambushes and skirmishes. In different scenarios these events will be played, cumulating in a showdown, where Charlesmagne will fight for his life at the big hall at Lorsch.
